Risa develops recipes, styles food for media, and appears on TV, staying active across many different media platforms. Beyond being a food coordinator, she holds an impressive array of certifications: chef, confectionery hygiene technician, junior high school teaching license, Hokkaido Food Meister, wine expert, food analyst, vegetable sommelier, and more. Yet the very first title she puts forward for herself is “registered dietitian.” Her real passion isn’t just about how food looks — it’s about connecting food to people’s health and happiness.

Hospitals are where you'll find most registered dietitians at work, so you might imagine someone strict, telling you "you can't eat that." But what Risa actually teaches is something much more approachable — advice like, "If you're getting by on two rice balls for lunch, why not swap one for a meat dish instead?" The idea that making a dish more colorful naturally brings your nutrition into better balance also feels like something anyone could actually try.

What first drew her toward food was a congenital condition called brainstem cavernous malformation. To avoid further compromising her health on top of that diagnosis, she became mindful of her diet. Even after the condition was successfully treated through surgery, she continued to prioritize food carefully in both her work and personal life, at one point avoiding eating out altogether because restaurant meals tend to be nutritionally unbalanced. These days, though, she has come to embrace the idea that sharing meals with others enriches the spirit, and has grown much more open to it. It's precisely because her words come from this kind of personal experience that they carry real weight. Beyond TV and event appearances and recipe development for various media, Risa also occasionally runs charity cooking classes she started in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake. Anyone concerned about their own health might consider joining one.
